S62 Review

Written by Silenzio at 23:09 31/10-2022

Racing with a squad of only 14 trained riders.
Racing only 2/3 of the season.

We ended 11th in the ranking, took 3 palmares, 16 wins, 24 results.
  A total success!

  An overview

  1
After a mass-sale, mass-scout and mass-recharge during the first days of the season our first real goals was winning the only Hungarian race in top division: Rubiks Race. A race of own design, with homegrown "The Ervinator" Hungary Sima Ervin. And he delivered. Unfortunately he disappointed in Vuelta de los Castillos, with the weight of being topfavorite on his shoulders.

  3
Next up: Belgium Carel Bastin, in his best form he got the chance of being captain in TWO races. In Zuid-Holland and Essex he maintained a maximum score: TWO attempts, TWO wins. Back to business as usual afterwards.

  6
  Gibraltar...IT TAKES TWO... Gibraltar
In Copa Cali de Salsa though Carel wasn't more than a leadout for "The Fox" Gibraltar Reynardo Ceballos. The Fox showed his strength once more in Colombia and retained his title, despite fierce competition of Alpine. Like the season before he managed to win both stage 1 and 3.

  7
After that, Sweden Lenny Bertilsson, like last season, got a result out of Astana GP. Nothing spectacular with a 5th place. Winning he did as well, a bit earlier in Parma-Ferrara.

  8
In preparation for the leadout role in Germany Tour, Gibraltar Reynardo Ceballos wins Sicilia Rotonda

  14
Australia...FINALLY GREEN AFTER SO MUCH BLUE...Australia
With more of a FR-squad available, it was time for Australia Gus Bailey to attempt Helsinki GP. In a loaded field, he didn't do better than 4th. His days would come though in Germany, where he mobbed the floor with the strong competition and won 4 stages. After predominantly blue jerseys it was now time for something different. Being on fire, he also took Hannover-Lubeck

Besides Bailey in Helsinki, Portugal Josué Pinhal (no TF), Spain Jose Agia (TF) and Norway Gudmund Viken (TF) noted top9s in all FR-races the team started. It didn't lead to a mention in the FR-podia, but we have faith this is a matter of time.

  15
Unfortunately we missed Nederlandse Tour and could not defend our title due to the many points we scored. To us it seems a faulty construction that the teams in the lower end of D1 can sign up for Vejle and Nederlandse, while the topteams cannot. Yet, Hungary Rajnay Bela took his win when the season neared its closing on D88 in Kentucky!

  16
Italy ...SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW... Italy
The cherry on the cake came unexpectedly on d89 during the U23 Time Trial WC, where without planning or preparation Italy Benedetto Pilosi claimed gold. Bene, bene, Benedetto!

Our sprintgoals will be more or less the same next season, and we hope we can broaden our horizon a bit with some of our trainees. It seems we might have a team for the babytour!
  ----------------------------------------------------------------

Top 5 scoring riders of all-time

  2. Australia Gus Bailey*: 2 jerseys, 9 wins, 19 results, 37 times money. Prize money: 321.5k. Points: 2534.

Great season! You will definitely be one of the powerhouses in OCM for seasons to come.

Silenzio at 09:19 2/11-2022
  Thanks all

@Frank s62 i missed the first two races (and the 1.1 races) and rotated captaincy and TFs. Probably it will be for Pinhal this season more often. Not sure that will be good enough, also because 1.1 wont be possible again. Nice challenge though :)
